Choral Festival Brings Together Youth Musicians from Across the Upper Valley

Last Saturday, New England School of the Arts (NESA) hosted the Upper Valley Choral Festival in the newly renovated Lebanon Opera House. More than fifty high school students from Vermont and New Hampshire spent the day practicing together under the direction of acclaimed conductor, composer, and performer Stefanie Weigand. Students came together from high schools across the area to create the Upper Valley Youth Chorus, and culminated the day’s rehearsals in an evening performance to hundreds of community members.

After opening performances from Tuck's Rock Dojo bands and NESA’s own Show Choir and Triple Threat Troupe, The Upper Valley Youth Chorus took the stage. The day’s theme of Connection shone through as Weigand, known for her contributions to choral education and performance, shared her insights on the significance of choral singing as a universal language that fosters community bonds.

New England School of the Arts is proud to provide free, high quality artistic and educational opportunities to area youth. As we reflect on the success of this event, we are reminded of the profound impact of the arts in shaping our lives and communities. Thank you to everyone who joined on Saturday.
