Explore all aspects of the arts with NESA this fall! Students and Adults will learn everything from singing and dancing, to collage making, face painting, acting, mask making and more! We will be offering fall, winter and spring programming. Join us for a year full of creativity, growth, and friendship!

Acting 101 for Middle and High School Students
Instructor: Ashley Barrow
Date/Time: Mondays 3:30-5 (No class 10/14 and 11/11)
Grades: Middle and High School
Cost: $280
Course Description: Our Acting class encourages spontaneity, simplicity and fun. The class begins with ensemble building exercises to build a strong group, improvisation games to excite creativity, and body work that will focus on breathing and building character. Students then explore the New England School of the Arts approach and acting tools via scene study. The class culminates in an open class for friends and family to come watch their work.

Acting for Adults
Instructor: Ashley Barrow
Date/Time: Mondays: 5:30-7 (No class 10/14 and 11/11)
Ages: 18+
Cost: $280
Course Description: Our Adult Acting class is perfect for beginners and those that have explored performance!
The class begins with ensemble building exercises to build a strong group and touching on a variety of specific acting techniques to help each student begin to hone their own style. Students then explore the New England School of the Arts approach and use all the given acting tools in a scene study. Depending on the ensemble we may choose to share with family and friends or just our class.

Junior Choir for Elementary School Students
Instructor: Jennifer Chambers
Date/Time: Tuesdays 3:15-4
Grades: Elementary School
Cost: $250
Course Description: Students will learn the foundational elements of choral singing including proper breath support, vowel placement and diction. Students will learn two and three part arrangements and the class will culminate in a final performance on November 22nd at 5pm. Repertoire will include classical as well as popular literature.

Broadway Style Tap Dance for Elementary School Beginners
Instructor: Denise Frawley
Date/Time: Wednesdays 5-5:55 (Class on Tuesday Sept.17 and Tues.Oct.1, No class Wed.Sept.25 and Oct.9)
Grades: Elementary School
Dress Code: Clothes you can move easily in and tap shoes

Course Description: This class is for students who are interested in learning how to tap dance for the first time. Students will learn new vocabulary, become more comfortable with movement and develop a strong foundation of tap technique. All students must provide their own tap shoes.

Circus Skills Middle and High School Students

Course Description: Have you ever wanted to learn how to juggle? Have you tried walking on a tightwire? Does clowning around intrigue you? Join us for our fall circus class and get a taste of life under the Big Top!

Special Effects Mask Making and Casting for 3rd-8th Graders

Date/Time: Wednesdays 4:30-6
Grades: 3rd-8th Grade
Cost: $375
Course Description: Our in-depth Special Effects FX course will teach you how to make masks of all kinds using a wide variety of techniques. As you explore our mask making course, you'll learn to use many different tools and materials, including clays, mold making materials, and finishing processes such as painting and hair work.
Learning how to make a mask will prepare you for many creative challenges in the film and television industries, as well as for cosplay projects, live attractions, and haunts.
Material fee of $50 included in tuition.

Dress Code: Leotard, tights, ballet shoes
Hair: Ponytail/ Ballet bun
Cost: $350
Course Description: This class follows a traditional ballet class format, starting at the barre focusing on posture and alignment, continuing with stretching and strengthening exercises. Center movement and traveling steps are added as the class progresses. No formal training is required. All students must provide their own ballet flats.

Course Description: Students will learn SAB and SATB arrangements of high level choral repertoire. The class will culminate in a final performance on November 22nd at 4pm. Repertoire will include classical as well as popular literature.

Modern Dance for Grades 4-7
Instructor: Ellen Smith Ahern
Date/Time: Tuesdays 5-6
Grades: 4-7
Cost: $250
Course Description: Students will explore the foundations of modern dance, building creativity, strength, coordination and communication skills. Through set choreography and guided improvisational games, students will practice listening with all our senses, moving through new shapes, and sharing leadership in playful collaboration. Students should be ready to dance barefoot, in comfortable clothes that cover the knees for floor work.
How to Pay for NESA Afterschool
Pay by credit card at the end of registration.
Registration Deadline
Registration and payment are due by September 9, 2024.
Cancellations and Refunds
It may be necessary for a parent or enrolled adult to cancel their registration after full tuition has been paid. If cancellation is due to a serious illness or injury that prevents participation in NESA activities, New England School of the Arts will refund the paid tuition provided that a doctor’s note certifying the illness or injury is submitted in writing. Any cancellations for other reasons are not subject to refunds.
